Why does not the electric filament in an electric bulb burn up?
Feb 8th
Q: Why does not the electric filament in an electric bulb burn up?
Ans:- the electric filament in an electric bulb burn up due to the two reasons that is high melting point of tungsten and absence of oxygen.
Firstly, because it is made of tungsten which has a very high melting point (34100) whereas the temperature of the filament required to glow is only 27000 C . Secondly, oxygen is absent since the bulb is filled with an inert gas which does not help in burning. More >

Q1:- Why is a rainbow seen after a rain?
Ans:- Do you know what a prism does when white light passes through it? Yes it splits the white light into seven colors that is violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red (VIBGYOR). Why does a balloon filled with hydrogen rise in air?
Jan 29th
Q1:- Why does a balloon filled with hydrogen rise in air?
Ans:- As the weight of the balloon is less than the weight of air displaced by it therefore the balloon rises in air. In balloons hydrogen is normally filled because it is lighter than air.
Q2:- Why does smoke curl up in the air?
Ans:- This is another case of lighter weight. Smoke contains hot gases which are lighter in weight , follow a curved path because of the eddy currents that are set up in the air.

Q:- Why does a ball bounce up upon falling?
Ans:- According to the Newton’s third law, to every action there is equal and opposite reaction.
When a ball falls, it is temporarily deformed. Because of elasticity, the ball tends to regain its original shape for which it presses the ground and bounces up (due to the Newton’s Third Law of motion)

Q:- Why stars twinkle?
Ans:- Do you know the phenomenon of refraction? Refraction is the bending of light as it moves from one medium to another.
Our air has many layers. The light from a star reaches us after refraction as it passes through various layers of air. When the light passes through the earth’s atmosphere, it is made to bend by the layers of the air and it appears as if the stars are twinkle.
